After 4 months of waiting and a fair bit of paperwork, I finally have my BYD Atto 3 Extended Range sitting in my driveway in Scarborough.
For those going through the process right now, here's exactly how it went:
The dealer:
I went through the dealer on Kennedy Road. They were actually quite knowledgeable — better than I expected. The sales guy had clearly done his homework on the car and answered most of my technical questions without needing to look things up.
The wait:
Ordered in November, delivery end of February. Not bad. I know some people waited longer. No major communication issues — they updated me twice by email.
Delivery day:
The PDI (pre-delivery inspection) took about 90 minutes. They walked me through the DiLink 4.0 infotainment, showed me how to set up the BYD app, and demonstrated the charging port and adapter kit.
The car itself:
Honestly, it blew my expectations. The interior quality is nothing like the old Chinese cars people warned me about. The seats are comfortable, the dash feels premium, and the panoramic roof makes the cabin feel massive.
Range:
I've done about 400km since pickup. In mixed city/highway driving in weather around 2°C, I'm seeing about 380km of realistic range on the extended battery. I'll update when summer hits and I can do a proper highway run.
Charging:
Works fine on my Level 2 home charger (ChargePoint 48A). Charges from 20% to 80% in about 4.5 hours. Haven't tried DC fast charging yet — there's a BTC Power charger nearby I'll try this weekend.
Anyone else in the GTA with an Atto 3? Would love to connect. Happy to answer questions from anyone in the process.
