BYD app gave me a heart attack this morning (0% battery glitch)

opened the app before leaving for work and it showed 0% battery

literally said zero. nothing. nada.

I was genuinely about to call a tow truck

walked outside and the car was fine. 81% charge, pre-conditioning running perfectly, totally normal

the app had just... lost connection overnight and cached the last reading from 3 days ago when I'd run it down before charging

my heart is still not fully recovered

anyone else get random phantom readings? is there a fix or do I just accept that the app is part-time employed

lmao yes this happens. the 0% glitch is well known. its a cache refresh bug. the car is always fine but the app has a moment. force close and reopen and it updates instantly

happened to me twice. first time I genuinely panicked. second time I just rolled my eyes and reopened the app. still unacceptable for a $50k car though, byd needs to fix this

Worth noting — I've heard from a few Android BYD owners who say they never see this. Could be iOS-specific. My Android version has been solid.

trick that works for me: don't check the app until you've actually sat in the car and turned it on. once the car and app shake hands the reading fixes itself. saved me a few mini heart attacks haha

they are aware of this. there was a service bulletin about it. fix is supposed to come in a future OTA. until then: don't trust the app first reading of the day 😭

I've started just walking to the car and checking the screen directly instead of trusting the app. takes 30 extra seconds but my blood pressure thanks me
