Right, so I had this stupid idea: can I do Manchester to Edinburgh in the MG4 Standard Range with zero charging stops?
Short answer: yes. With absolute no margin for error and mild weather.
Long answer:
Departed Manchester with 98% charge (topped up overnight to 100%). February, 8 degrees C. Mostly motorway.
Range prediction at departure: 381km. Distance to Edinburgh city centre: 343km. Margin: 38km.
Arrived with 7% battery. 7 PERCENT. The car was telling me quite firmly that I needed to plug in.
I was absolutely fine on the motorway but got slightly lost in Edinburgh looking for the hotel parking which used up about 10% more than planned.
Lesson: don't get lost in Edinburgh. Also don't attempt this in winter. In summer with a few extra degrees it would be genuinely comfortable.
