Toronto to Ottawa road trip — full charging log

did this last weekend in the Seal AWD. full charging log for the benefit of future planners.

DEPARTURE: Toronto (Davisville area), 95% charge

KINGSTON stop (FLO): 32% on arrival, 68% departure. 22 minutes. FLO station was busy, waited 8 minutes for a stall.

BROCKVILLE rest area (Electrify Canada): almost skipped this. glad I didn't. 47% arrival, 80% departure. 16 minutes. both stalls working.

ARRIVAL OTTAWA (downtown hotel): 31%. could have skipped the Brockville stop but wouldn't have had much margin.

TOTAL charging time: 38 minutes for a 450km trip.

my old ICE car would have needed maybe one gas stop of 5 minutes. so I added about 33 minutes. on a trip I'm doing for a weekend. genuinely not a big deal.

the "33 extra minutes on a weekend trip is genuinely not a big deal" framing is so important. people catastrophize EV road trips. this is a normal trip.

the Seal's 150kW peak makes these stops short enough to not really matter. if you'd been in a 50kW car that same Kingston stop would have been 90+ minutes

FLO Kingston being busy is a known thing on holiday weekends. I've started arriving there with a bit more buffer because of the wait time issue

the Brockville stop being a 16 minute top-up is remarkable. these 150kW charges genuinely change the road trip calculation
