When my girlfriend bought the BYD Seal last September I told her (and I am not proud of this) that she was "buying a toy" and that she'd "be wanting a proper car within a year."
I drove it for a week while she was visiting family.
The Seal is... excellent. The build quality is better than my 2023 VW Golf GTI. The interior materials are better than a Golf. The acceleration embarrasses the Golf. The charging cost made me sit down and do maths I didn't want to do.
I still don't love the "BYD" badge. I'm working on that.
My girlfriend is very smug. She's earned it.
I'm currently configuring a BYD Seal for myself. White, long range. I've told her it's a different matter from her car. She knows I'm lying.
