sharing my BYD maintenance spreadsheet — 18 months of data

for the data people (hello, I am also a data person):

18 months with the Atto 3. I track everything. here's a summary of what I've spent maintaining it.

SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE:

10,000km service: $175 (tire rotation, brake inspection, visual check, software update)
20,000km service: $185 (same + cabin filter replacement)

REPAIRS (warranty, $0 to me):

taillight condensation @ 11k: replaced both under warranty
USB port failure @ 14k: replaced under warranty

CHARGING COSTS (home, off-peak Ontario rate ~$0.08/kWh):

18 months: approximately $520 total for ₂₂,000km

COMPARISON (my previous Honda CR-V similar distance):

Oil changes x6: $540
Fuel: ~$3,400
Misc repairs: $280
Total: $4,220

MY TOTAL: ~$880 over 18 months including all maintenance and charging.

difference: $3,340.

this is real money.

$3,340 in 18 months is $2,226/year in savings. in 5 years that's $11,000+. for a car that cost maybe $5k more than the Honda new. the payback period is shorter than most people realise

the warranty repairs at $0 are worth noting. if those had been out of warranty you're looking at maybe $400-600 in parts and labour. the 5-year warranty is genuinely valuable.
